The SPEED Upright is the lowest drag upright available and fits the special low drag control frame.

Safer Technology.

As well as being ultra low drag this upright is specially constructed from two parts to make it far safer in use.  The idea that should the pilot make a poor landing and hit the back of the upright then it will bend in a forwards direction far more easily than some deep section hang glider uprights.

This smooth bending of the upright will help to absorb energy and also reduce the chance of a broken arm.

To get the full safety benefit from uprights it is important that the pilot is holding onto the upright at the time of impact.   Thus good, safe landing technique involves moving to holding the uprights early in the landing process and before final approach.

Landing while holding the speed bar negates almost all potential safety benefit of the upright 'crumple zone.'
