An engineer and a pilot, doing his dream job of designing and building aircraft! He has a degree in Aerospace Engineering and a PhD in composite materials (such as carbon fibre!). He has previously worked at the University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre with Boeing where he helped companies such as Boeing, Airbus, Rolls Royce and McLaren to use composites more efficiently in their manufacturing processes.
He took on Avian from Steve in July 2017 and plans to apply the knowledge he gained working with the aerospace giants to hang gliding technology.
Steve: Technical consultant and founder
Steve founded Avian in 1989 and ran it for 29 years until passing it onto Tim in 2017. Steve continues to provide technical support and guidance gleaned from a lifetime of designing, building and flying hang gliders.
Sebastian: Sail maker and builder
A keen pilot who has represented his county flying. Sebastian is just at home in the sail loft meticulously stitching with millimetre accuracy or building and assembling the airframes.
Jeremy is in his final year of an engineering degree at the University of Cambridge and is doing his dissertation project on hang glider design. He's also a very keen hang glider pilot and is doing an internship at Avian to understand the practicalities of building hang gliders.
