Avian Rio (Mk1) in good condition.

The Rio is lovely as a first glider or for anyone looking for a lightweight, easy and fun to glider. It has a little more performance than a single surface sky floater type glider but has nice light handling and easy landing characteristics so is a suitable for newcomers to the sport or for more experienced pilots who just want to relax when they're flying.

This one is in good condition, it has the rubber backed aerofoil profile uprights (making the control frame comfortable and easy to hold as well as aerodynamic and it has just had a service completed by Avian, including replacing the full set of rigging wires, both hang loops, all the batten bungees and a number of other cosmetic and 'tidying up' jobs, which is worth over £500 (not flown since the service). There's a small sail repair (shown in the photo), but this appears proffesionally done some time ago. There's also a couple of small scuffs to the leading edge, but other than that the sail is in good condition, it's crispy, clean and not showing any signs of deteriation so this glider should still have many years of good service ahead of it.

This is a 15 sqm glider, so is suitable for clip in weights of 61 to 95kg for free flight, although it is able to take up to 110kg for use with a power unit.

I've got a soft spot for Rios as my first ever hang glider was just like this one. It got me through my CP, first soaring flights, first XC's and I even entered my first comp on it! They're lovely little gliders and this is a good example of one freshly serviced and ready to go.
